Closer ("Closer", "we", "our", or "us") is developed by GOOSEBUMPS LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.
Information We Collect
Closer is designed with your privacy in mind. We collect minimal data:
- Profile and pairing information: We may store the display name you provide, your language preference, onboarding preferences, invite codes, and couple pairing records so the paired experience works across devices.
- Authentication information: If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple and Supabase may provide and store account identifiers, your Apple private relay email address, and the name you choose to share so we can authenticate and recover your account.
- Couple content: When you use paired features, answers, notes, memories, recap summaries, reactions, and related activity records may be stored securely in our backend so you and your partner can reveal and revisit them.
- App preferences: Settings like sound and haptics are stored locally on your device. Language and onboarding preferences may also be synced to support notifications and paired features.
- Notification data: If you enable notifications, we store your Apple Push Notification service device token so we can send partner activity and recap notifications.
- Subscription data: If you purchase a subscription, payment processing is handled by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status and may store subscription entitlement records so one subscription can unlock Pro for both partners in a couple.
- Analytics data: We use product analytics to understand aggregate app usage, reliability, and conversion. Analytics events may include feature interactions and non-sensitive properties, but not the private text of your answers or notes.
- Crash diagnostics: We may receive crash and error diagnostics so we can find reliability problems and improve the app.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your phone number or precise location.
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs.
- We do not sell, share, or rent any personal data to third parties.
Local Storage
Local app data such as preferences, onboarding state, offline drafts, saved local progress, and device settings may be stored on your device using Apple's standard storage frameworks (UserDefaults and SwiftData). Paired features use secure backend storage so you and your partner can sync answers, memories, notes, subscriptions, notifications, and recaps.
Notifications
Closer may request permission to send you local and remote notifications. Local reminders are generated on your device. Partner activity and weekly recap notifications are sent through Apple Push Notification service using a device token stored in our backend. You can disable notifications at any time through your device's Settings.
Third-Party Services
Closer uses the following third-party services:
- Supabase: Used for authentication, pairing, synced couple content, device tokens, and recap data.
- RevenueCat: Used to manage in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat processes anonymous subscriber data to verify your subscription status. You can review their privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
- PostHog: Used for product analytics and app improvement. Analytics events are not used for advertising.
Children's Privacy
Closer is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
